Riding Arena Mirror – or a whole Hall of Mirrors
Seat and Posture
Riding arena mirrors are by no means purely decorative elements. For riders who want to monitor or correct their own seat and posture, or check if the horse is properly aligned, riding arena mirrors are indispensable. For correcting seat and posture, a large mirror on the long side is particularly useful. Summerwind Riding Arena Mirrors can also be used to cover the entire long side of a riding arena with mirrors. To check a horse’s posture and straightness, a track corner mirror is commonly used. As an alternative, the entire short side of the riding arena can be covered with mirrors.
Mirror glass
Quality standards of riding arena mirrors vary widely, ranging from cheap foil mirrors to the more expensive, practically distortion-free crystal glass mirrors. In any case, a riding arena mirror must be made of safety glass. If a horse, e.g. during lunging or free running time, bounces into a mirror or even kicks it, there must be absolutely no shards that could contaminate the arena floor. This safety can be bought.
Frame, supporting structure and mounting
Besides the glass, the frames and mounting techniques are also important factors to consider. The walls of riding hall arenas expand and contract in various ways, depending on their material (stone, wood, trapezoidal sheet metal, etc.). If mirrors are mounted incorrectly, this can of course affect the reflection produced by the mirror. Thus, attaching the mirror directly to the building structure can result in seasonal or temperature-related distortion.
Riding arena mirrors with plastic frames are less maintenance-intensive and more wear-resistant than wooden frames, for example. They come in many different decors because the frames usually are sourced from highly experienced window and door manufacturers. Plastic frames also can be equipped with frame heating units quite easily. Frame heating units effectively prevent the mirror from fogging or even icing over. Equipping riding arena mirrors with insulating backing layers also has a beneficial effect.
Mirror cover
Covers for riding arena mirrors are indispensable wherever horses are lunged or allowed to run free. Here, the standards range from self-made fabric drapes to electrically operated mirror roller blinds. We recommend using robust materials that don’t flutter at the slightest breeze as you ride past them.
Outdoor riding arena mirrors
Of course, Summerwind Riding Arena Mirrors can also be installed at outdoor riding arenas. Outdoors, riding arena mirrors are mainly used in dressage arenas, and most often in the form of track corner mirrors.
