In human medicine, treatments with infrared and TDP lamps, heat and UV rays have long been standard. The first equestrian solarium that follows this approach is finally coming onto the market.
The new member of the Summerwind horse solarium family, the „Summerwind Therapy“, can be equipped with 4 different lamps:
Infrared lamps – the classic Infrared light is good for people and animals: The heat stimulates the blood circulation in the skin, accelerates healing processes and has a relaxing effect. The pleasant warmth of the sun is created by the infrared radiation. It causes the blood vessels to widen and the blood flow to increase in the irradiated area. At the same time, the skin’s metabolism is stimulated. As a result, the muscles relax and the synovial fluid becomes more supple. Doctors use this effect for heat therapy to relieve muscle and joint pain and to support the healing of inflammations. Infrared light is also used for back problems and skin problems.
UV lamps – With UV lamps, we bring the sun into the stable all year round and in any weather. Sunlight, consumed in moderation, has many positive attributes on the organism: It has an anti-inflammatory effect, can heal skin diseases more quickly and can have a positive effect on fertility. One of the most important properties of UV light, however, is the influence it has on the mind: Through sunlight the body produces endorphins, happiness hormones. The production of the brain messenger substance serotonin increases. Serotonin gives a feeling of contentment, calm and serenity. Characteristics that we sorely miss in many sport horses today.
New: The Moxa or TDP lamp – The „Chinese healing lamp“ is finding its way into equestrian sport for the first time. The main item of the TDP lamp is the mineral plate, which is heated. It is coated with a mixture of over 30 minerals and trace elements. This mixture is similar to the distribution of these minerals in the mammalian organism. Due to the special radiation, the frequencies of the minerals and trace elements can get into the organism. There they develop their therapeutic effect in the subcutaneous tissue. The mineral plate emits a certain spectrum of electromagnetic waves. TDP stands for „Teding Diancibo Pu“. This gentle therapy can be used for many diseases and disorders: blockages can be loosened and pain reduced, so the lamp is well suited to support in connection with osteopathy, acupuncture and physiotherapy.
Color light – the amazing effect of colors. Color energies exert a chemical influence on the horse’s organism, which leads to increased nitrogen excretion. This in turn leads to an increase in the combustion processes and metabolism. It consists of several colors, each with an individual wavelength. Each wavelength has a different effect on the body and mind. In practice, color light therapy is used for physical and mental illnesses and complaints. It also serves to promote general well-being.

The integrated circulating air system, which is installed in the Summerwind Premium model and in the Summerwind De Luxe model, optimizes the horse drying process. After a training session, it is particularly important to prevent the sweaty horse from cooling down too fast or being exposed to cold drafts. Particularly the horse’s sensitive belly area, as well as the kidney and loin region must be protected to prevent tension or even colds.
The Summerwind Premium horse solarium has been designed with these aspects in mind. When the horse is treated with infrared light, the back and upper flanks are bathed in soothing warmth. However, the infrared lamps cannot be pointed at the horse’s sensitive belly area. For this reason, the Summerwind Premium Horse Solarium has been equipped with an integrated circulation air system.
The Summerwind Premium horse solarium is equipped with 16 extremely silent fans with an air capacity of 140 m3 per hour each.
After a training session, the sweating horse radiates a lot of heat; added to this is the heat generated by the infrared light. The ventilation system of the Summerwind Premium Horse Solarium is geared towards taking away the heat to avoid heat accumulation and thus excessive post-exercise sweating. The advantage of the Summerwind Premium horse solarium is that the rising heat is not simply suctioned off, but instead is drawn in by air control nozzles and transferred to adjustable ventilation nozzles that can reach otherwise inaccessible parts of the horse, such as the belly area. The resulting evenly distributed air circulation bathes the horse’s entire body in soothing heat and ensures that it dries off evenly.
Another advantage of the patented circulating air system is that the heat generally produced during a drying session is reused and not lost. Due to this principle, no additional energy supply for heating up colder surrounding air is required. No additional heat source is required to warm the horse’s belly region. The Summerwind Premium horse solarium differs from most other horse solariums on the market due to its significantly lower energy consumption. This not only benefits the user, but is also a huge plus for the environment.

All Summerwind solariums are equipped with a control box. It is very elaborately constructed and thus offers the best possible safety. All connections are wired and ready to plug in. The control box comes prepared for controlling a slot meter.

We exclusively use electronic coin slots produced by MAG in all of our Summerwind Horse Solariums. The coin validator can recognize various coins, which makes the annoying task of exchanging money obsolete.
