What is sole?

The healing effects of salty air is known for a long time.

But only the sole in a certain concentration and dissolution and an ideal indoor climate leads to an optimal therapeutical effect.

The new Summerwind sole box uses a micro climate, that has a similar climate like a salt mine: Salt aerosol is pumped into the sole box by a specialized generator, which creates a fine spray. This process produces salt aerosols with a size between 0.5 and 5µm.

Why is treatment in a sole box so beneficial to the health of most horses?

Many diseases, that our horses are struggling with, are directly or indirectly related to environmental influences.

Thus, in recent years, we have seen a significant increase of respiratory diseases in horses, although the condition of keeping horses have been improved within the last decades. As with us humans, there is an increased incidence of chronic cough, asthma or COPD.

The pure symptom treatment with mucolytics or even antibiotics and cortisone is viewed critically by many horse owners.

Regular treatment in a sole box can gently lead to a permanent improvement in the health of the respiratory tract and skin.

Mode of action:

The soothing sole mist cleanses, moisturizes and soothes the respiratory tract. It penetrates to the farthest alveoli of the lungs, where it has anti-allergic, decongestant and antifungal effects

The treatment loosens the mucus in the lungs and makes it easier to cough it up and promotes blood circulation.

The simultaneous light therapy has a relaxing effect, stimulates the metabolism, reduces stress, promotes serenity and inner peace.

Overall, the therapy supports the willingness to perform, so it can be performance-enhancing, strengthens the immune system and the defense function of the respiratory tract.

It acts prophylactically to maintain the health of the skin and respiratory tract, acts desinfectionary and antibacterial (99,8%) in the respiratory tract and on the skin, and has anti-inflammatory effect (inhibits free radicals).

Application areas:

Sole therapy is recommended for respiratory diseases, allergies, asthma, colds, chronic and acute infections. Furthermore, for loosening stuck mucus.

It can also be used as a supportive treatment for eczema, fungal diseases and other skin conditions.

Treatment in the Summerwind sole box is also recommended in cases of reduced performance, poor general condition, a weak immune system or for prophylactic health maintenance.

How is the sole therapy done?

In Summerwind’s bright brine box, horses experience the application in a horse-friendly environment, so they enjoy the therapy in the pleasant climate. Hay can be fed during the stay to prevent emerging boredom.

To achieve an optimal effect, a 7-10 day cure is recommended at the beginning, with one session of 45 minutes per day. Depending on the severity of the disease, a longer cure can be given or the intensity can be increased to 2 times a day. For horses that are considered to be out of treatment, a 2-4 week cure with daily treatment is recommended.

After the treatment, the horses should always be exercised, so that the mucus can be removed, chewed off and coughed up. The intensity of the exercise depends on the individual constitution of the horse.

For beginners, as a refresher and in case of acute phlegm, sole box application on three consecutive days is suitable.

As a long-term therapy and to increase the general well-being and performance, it is recommended to use 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes.

It is also important here that the horse is sufficiently exercised after the sole treatment. Only in this way can the mucus be optimally activated. It is amazing how much mucus is loosened in the sole box even in horses that otherwise show no mucus.

Colored Light and Solarium Top:

Currently the only supplier on the market, Summerwind allows a combination of sole therapy and horse solarium, optionally with integrated colored light therapy. A panel of high-quality safety glass separates the solarium top from the solebox, so that the sole does not come into contact with the lamps.

The solarium top contains 20 infrared lamps á 200 watts and optionally 4 or 8 colored lights. The powerful ventilation system leads the fresh air, which enters the top through the air slits, past the infrared lamps. The heated air is then directed by the ventilators downwards into the sole box.
